Room to Read

The Sixièmes, Quatrièmes at the Collège in Chaville and Sèvres and the Secondes at the Lycée de Sèvres are combining forces to raise money for Room to Read.  Pupils from these classes will be reading as many books as they can from January 9 until March 15. We hope that all our students at these levels will participate.

  • The event runs from January 9th– March 15th.
  • Students will record the number of minutes spent reading each day.
  • Sponsors commit to donating either a sum per minute read or a fixed sum to each participant.
  • English language books only.
  • Reading materials may be anything with words – books, journals, newspapers…
  • Students who cannot yet read by themselves may record the number of minutes they were read to.

1€      will print a new library book.

25€    will provide 25 books for early readers.

90€    will support a year of life skills education to a girl in secondary school.

270€  will support a girl for an entire year in the Girl’s Education

Room to Read is a global organization that seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in the developing world by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Founded on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children, Room to Read works in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments to develop literacy skills and reading among primary school children and to ensure girls have the life skills and support needed to complete their secondary education. By the end of 2017, Room to Read will have benefitted more than ten million children in Asia and African, and hopes to invest in the futures of at least 15 million children by 2020. Learn more at
