All pupils must buy and read the books listed for their appropriate level during the summer holidays*.
Highlight interesting passages and take a few notes on characters, themes and ideas which come to mind as you read. Please do NOT leave your reading to the last week. Assigned books are all available on Amazon or in English language bookshops in Paris. You will be tested on your reading at the Rentrée.

Pupils (already in SIS) with an average of less than 13 in English will also have to do some language work over the summer. Those families concerned will be receiving letters after the conseils de classe/ 3e trimester, with specific recommendations.
New pupils may wish to consult the Englishpage.com website over the summer to brush up on your grammar, if necessary.
All pupils should have a combined Dictionary & Thesaurus at home.
To succeed in your learning, pupils MUST get into the habit of reading regularly : articles, stories, novels, travel writing etc.
You might enjoy Vocable, a magazine of newspaper articles from the English language press, such as The Guardian and The New York Times. Each article is accompanied by a full glossary. It is available through subscribing on-line.
All best wishes from the English Department,
Betty Lau, Head of English
