Window into the Classroom

Working on the importance of setting in Austen's Sense and Sensibility, Miss Daly’s 1ère class made estate-agent style adverts to sell their literary location. From the grand Norland mansion in Sussex to the high society circles of London, the students had to describe their property (using quotations), recap the events that take place there and consider its significance in the story.

Pupils in Miss Loxton's 4e class have been honing their persuasive and argumentative writing skills in preparation for the iGCSE. These written skills were then applied to a debate; the class was split into two teams and competed to convince two student judges of their point of view.

The pupils in the 6e Extension Programme are reading Goodnight Mr Tom and recently created posters capturing their impressions of the novel.

Ms. Loxton's 6e Extension class has been learning more about writing postcards and newspaper articles.

Postcards:

Miss Daly’s 3e8 class has been working on improving three skills in their IGCSE writing this week: punctuation, paragraphing and varied sentence openers. Activities included a rousing tournament of “Punctuation Karate” and an “escape game” activity, where we had to escape from Jurrasic Park by writing passwords using varied sentence starters!
